WVAFF Fairs & Festivals Pageant Workshop to be held Saturday, November 16th!
The West Virginia Association of Fairs & Festivals is excited to announce that it is dedicating one day, Saturday – November 16th, to Pageant Prep for the Contestants and Pageant Directors of the WVAFF Member Events who will be competing at the WVAFF Queen’s Pageant, January 9, 10 & 11, 2020. The day is being sponsored with proceeds from the WVAFF Queen’s Pageant People’s Choice Campaign
The event will take place at the Days Inn & Conference Center in Flatwoods and will include a meeting led by State Pageant Director, Jeanie Smith. Also joining us will be Pageant Staff, Hostesses and members of the WVAFF Board of Directors.
Each Member Event will be allowed to have the following individuals attend this meeting:
- Fair or Festival Pageant Director (only the duly appointed Pageant Director(s) may attend as space is limited);
- Fair or Festival Queen, who will be competing in the January pageant;
- Parent(s) or Guardian of the Fair or Festival Queen, who will be competing in the January pageant. (Only the parents or legal guardians (limit of two per) may attend as space is limited. No other family members or friends allowed).
During this meeting, a complete overview of the upcoming pageant will be presented so that all the information to all involved individuals will be released at the same time. We will answer all questions and concerns. Our desire is for contestants, pageant directors and families to be well informed on the policies, procedures and practices so that we have a spectacular, stress free competition.
The rest of the day will be broken up into specific workshops focusing on interview, stage presence (Event Promotion & Evening Gown), wardrobe to include hair & makeup tips. These workshops will be led by State Pageant Producer Randy Sanders featuring the following presenters:
Jorge Esteban of PageantSmart Interview Consulting – Professional Pageant Interview Consulting from The Interview Room to The Stage!
Laurin Floyd – Choreographer and Entertainer from Nashville, Tennessee. Laurin works with pageant contestants to help them see their own potential and feel at home on the stage in any phase of competition.
Angela & Samantha Patsy of Oliverio’s Prom & Pageant Boutique –Associate Members of the WVAFF, Angela will have examples of affordable fashions and Samantha will provide a workshop on hair & makeup for the WV Association of Fairs & Festivals stage.
A schedule will be released soon but you should plan for a full day of activities beginning at 10:00 am and concluding at approximately 4:00 pm with a break for lunch (on your own). Snacks will be provided throughout the day.
There are some sleeping rooms available at the Days Inn for a special rate of $97.19 plus tax. You can book your room(s) by calling the Days Inn at (304) 765-5055 and ask for the WV Association of Fairs & Festival block.
There is no fee for the workshops as the cost of the Days Inn Meeting Rooms, snacks and having Jorge Esteban and Laurin Floyd presenting will be covered by proceeds from the WVAFF Queen’s Pageant People’s Choice Campaign! Oliverio’s Prom & Pageant Boutique is sponsoring their own participation.
